Elisha Miranda aka E-Fierce

 is a novelist, filmmaker, activist and entrepreneur. Hispanic Magazine named her one of “The Emerging Latina Voices in Filmmaking.”

Her books, films and activism have also been featured on the radio, television, internet and in print (i.e. Ms. Magazine, Colorlines, Latina, Urban Latino, The Daily News, The New York Times and the New York Post). Elisha has also traveled across the USA and internationally speaking on various issues (i.e. social justice, feminism, multi-media, media literacy, hip hop, film, etc.), reading from her book and showcasing her films at various theaters, universities, museums, galleries, film festivals and libraries. Elisha’s vision as a cultural activist is to create socially conscious media that entertains, inspires and invokes action. Doing all this in a creative way that does not preach but connects to her audience with literary and visual soul.

As E-Fierce she penned her debut young adult novel, THE SISTA HOOD: ON THE MIC (Atria/ Simon & Schuster, 2006), the first book in a four part series. In the SISTAHOOD, young women of the hip-hop generation finally have something to celebrate -- in Mariposa and her friends, we see ourselves in all our talented, beautiful and intelligent diversity. THE SISTA HOOD: ON THE MIC is a must-read for any girl who loves hip hop but also everyone -- the boyfriends, homegirls, parents and teachers -- who love them.
Elisha is also a published essayist, her essay “Vieques Puerto Rico: A Baptism” by Fire was published in THE FIRE THIS TIME, edited by Vivien Laboton and Dawn Lundy Martin, (Random House, 2004). And her erotica story, “A Kiss From Lares” was published in JUICY MANGOS: THE BEST OF LATINA EROTICA, edited by Michelle Herrera Mulligan (Atria/Simon & Schuster, 2007). Currently, she is one of the Co-Creators (along with Black Artemis, JLove & Marcella) of CONSCIOUS WOMEN ROCK THE PAGE, A groundbreaking curriculum created by four unique and talented authors of the Hip-Hop Generation which bridges the world of Hip-Hop fiction and education for social change. Conscious Women Rock the Page is innovative yet practical, fresh yet timeless, and most of all, universally Hip-Hop.

As a screenwriter and film director Elisha has been awarded the highly competitive, Tribeca All Access Award (Tribeca Film Festival), A Hispanic Entertainment Industry Scholarship, A Student Academy Internship Award, National Association of Latino Producers Fellowship, NALIP Writer’s Lab Fellow, Outfest Screenwriting Award, Angelus Award and has been a finalist in both the Sundance Screenwriting Lab and Voy Picture Lab. For her activism and academic achievement— she has garnered a DO SOMETHING AWARD, A Martin Luther King Peace Award, a U.C. Berkeley Alumni Scholars Award, A Union Square Award for her work with Chica Luna Productions and an MIT Community Fellows Scholars Award.

She has a dual BA in Ethnic Studies and English with a minor in Education from U.C. Berkeley, an MCP from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an MFA in Film (Directing and Screenwriting) from Columbia University.

For the past twenty-years, Elisha has also been an activist, organizer and educator around various social justice issues. And she is the Co-Founder/Board Co-Chair of Chica Luna Productions, a non-profit organization that seeks to support and develop young women of color in popular media. Currently, she is the CEO of Sister Outsider Entertainment which is currently developing a series of multi-media projects , including— SANGRIA STREET, an original web series. And, she is writing— LOVELINES, her first commercial fiction novel.
