My novel, The Understory, published in fall 2007, was the winner of the Ironweed Press Fiction Prize, as well as a finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize for First Fiction and the William Saroyan International Prize for Writing. A former features editor at Glamour, I have twice received a fellowship in fiction from The New Jersey State Council on the Arts.
