My novel, The Understory, published
in fall 2007, was the winner of the Ironweed Press Fiction Prize and is a finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize for First Fiction. My short fiction has appeared in publications such as Chicago Review, Boston Review, The Literary Review, Skidrow Penthouse, Redivider, and Upstreet, and is forthcoming in the anthology Visiting Hours (Press 53). My essays have appeared in Michigan Quarterly Review, New England Review, Glamour, and O, the Oprah Magazine. A former features editor at Glamour, I have twice received a fellowship in fiction from The New Jersey State Council on the Arts.
