Penelope Przekop
Bs_and_more_011
Penelope Przekop is an author, consultant, and artist. Her debut novel ABERRATIONS (Greenleaf Book Group) was released in July of 2008. Since its release, ABERRATIONS has gained a strong grass roots following, and has received a bucket-load of excellent and exciting reviews. In early 2009, it was voted a Book Blogger Top Ten of 2008!

ABERRATIONS takes place in Shreveport, Louisiana, where Penelope grew up. It's a moving story that shares insights on many subjects, including: parenthood, mental illness, accepting others and ourselves, pursuing and confronting the truth, narcolepsy, homosexuality, experimental drugs, adultery, and friendships.

Though a work of fiction, some overlap of her real life and her novel are obvious. Both the story’s protagonist, Angel, and Penelope, have struggled through difficult mother-daughter relationships, and both, when 21-year-old college students, became unwed mothers.

Penelope's art explores and exposes how close-mindedness can stifle individuals, relationships, and society in various ways. Her use of black and white as a prison provides a captivating contrast to the vibrant colors she chooses to depict real life in all its complex beauty. Her work addresses such topics as fundamentalism, sexuality, relationships, and her philosophy, which centers on accepting and embracing life's mental, physical, and situational aberrations as the norm rather than the exception.

Penelope writes a popular blog, ABERRATION NATION, which includes interviews of individuals who have faced and/or continue to live with various aberrations or differences such as bipolar disorder, autism, homosexuality, being a loner, abandonment, and alcoholism. Her interviews include critically acclaimed writers Terri Cheney, Anneli Rufus, and Marya Hornbacher.

She has been featured in The New Jersey Star-Ledger, The Shreveport Times, and other publications. She’s also conducted numerous seminars and workshops, including speaking/reading appearances at numerous bookstores and book clubs, The Mark Twain Intermediate School for the Gifted and Talented in New York, New York, The Narcolepsy Network Annual Conference, and The Toronto Sleep Wake Disorders Association.

Her publishing debut occurred with McGraw-Hill published her non-fiction work SIX SIGMA FOR BUSINESS EXCELLENCE in 2006. The book is based on her twenty-year career in the pharmaceutical industry. Until late 2007, Penelope was Director of Global Quality Management for Johnson & Johnson. She currently freelances within the industry while pursuing her creative goals full-time.

She resides near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
