Robert Rummel-Hudson

Robert Rummel-Hudson's first book, Schuyler's Monster: A Father's Journey with His Wordless Daughter, tells the story of raising a little girl with a disability and learning to become the father she needs. It was published in February 2008 by St. Martin's Press.



In February 2008, his article about Schuyler, "Love Beyond Words," was published in Good Housekeeping. Schuyler's Monster was reviewed in People (3.5 out of 4 stars) and was excerpted in Wondertime in March 2008.



Robert has been writing online since 1995. During that time, his work has been recognized by the Diarist Awards at diarist.net and has been featured in articles in the Austin Chronicle , the Irish Times, the New Haven Register, the Dallas Morning News, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram and the St. Paul Pioneer Press. He has been featured on American Public Radio's Weekend America, WFAA's Good Morning Texas and KERA's Think with Krys Boyd. The Rummel-Hudson family was the subject of a feature story by Fox 26 Houston's Greg Groogan. Robert was the featured keynote speaker at the 2009 Texas Speech Language Hearing Association Convention in Austin.



Robert and his family currently live in Plano, Texas, where Schuyler attends a special class for children who use Augmentative and Alternative Communication devices. Most of her days are now spent in mainstream classes with neurotypical children her age.



Robert Rummel-Hudson is represented by Sarah Jane Freymann of the Sarah Jane Freymann Literary Agency in New York.
