Malaprop’s is honored to welcome store favorite and best-selling author Amy Bloom, who will present her book, <b>Where the God of Love Hangs Out</b>. This new collection of short stories explores the powerful changes wrought by family, passion, and friendship, and <i>Booklist</i> describes her writing as “emotionally precise, mordantly funny, and beautifully distilled.” Bloom is the author of 3 story collections, 2 novels, and the nonfiction work <i>Normal: Transsexual CEO’s, Crossdressing Cops, and Hermaphrodites with Attitude</i>, all of which have been fixtures on our staff favorites and bestseller shelves. Her writing has also appeared in <i>The New Yorker</i>, <i>Atlantic Monthly</i>, and <i>Prize Stories: The O. Henry Awards</i>, among many others. Bloom’s work as a social worker and psychotherapist lends her unusual insight into the human condition, resulting in vivid characters with realistic and familiar emotions. In addition to her writing, she teaches creative writing part-time at Yale University.
